What better way to mark a milestone birthday, anniversary, graduation and other special events than with a trip? Instead of a dinner party, a celebration trip provides days of shared experiences. Including your loved ones or close friends can make the occasion even more meaningful.
Honeymoon and anniversary trips are especially exciting. Sometimes spouses want to surprise each other. I usually suggest planning a memorable romantic activity such as a hot air balloon ride over the lavender fields of Provence or a gourmet dinner served on a private tropical beach in Fiji.
For milestone anniversaries, couples often bring their children and grandchildren. Several have told me that it’s important to show the next generations that you are still in love. An anniversary trip sets an example and reinforces the joy of a long-term marriage. Celebration travel takes many forms.
Graduation trips are becoming popular as a way to come together as a family before the kids go off on their own or get married and start their own families. A 50th birthday could be the focus of a girlfriend getaway or a guys’ weekend.
And of course, I plan a lot of honeymoons and destination weddings. I always ask for input from and about those being celebrated on what would most delight them. One couple went to Paris for the first time for their anniversary. The husband told me that his wife had always dreamt of seeing the Eiffel Tower. I surprised them by getting them a room with a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower and arranged for them to have dinner at the restaurant there. She told her husband Paris was just as she’d dreamt it would be.
Another trip was for a couple who had met at a speed-dating event where she had asked: “What rare animal would you want to see?” His answer was a “double-wattled cassowary.” They had joked about that when I was planning their trip to Australia, so I hired a guide to take them into the Daintree Rainforest to find one. The guy thought that was the coolest thing ever, but the woman was even more impressed by the fact that the guide’s clientele included many of her favorite celebrities.
As a celebration travel specialist, I can enhance your commemorative trip with personalized meals, activities and extra amenities and recognition from hoteliers, restaurants and other vendors. Whatever the cause for celebration, a well-planned trip can make your milestone event a meaningful and unforgettable occasion.

I don't often use a travel agent but was so glad I did this time. Not only was Lori very helpful in putting things together, but we ended up going on our trip right as the Coronavirus was beginning to really take off in the US and so we needed to get home quickly. She and her team helped us rearrange things so that it was simple and painless for us to change our plans (though we were sad to have to do so!). I'd highly recommend Lori for your travel planning.
